Hajra Makda inherited her natural talent for cooking skills that have been handed down from mother to daughter for generations in her ancestral Indian home.


Her natural flair for cooking and adapting inspirational recipes from her travels across the globe coupled with a genuine passion for
good food and adventurous culinary experiments, earned her popularity both as an outstanding food writer and former editor of Masala, an influential food and restaurant magazine.

 

Hajra has appeared on several television channels such as the BBC Good Food Show, Presented on MATV, advised on traditional medicinal foods on Carlton TV, provided recipes and content for BBC Asian Network and for Channel 4 Indian Summer as well as preparing food for a Bollywood commercial

She’s written for many periodicals including the Leicester Mercury and Emirates Woman although she is widely known for her books Spice'n'Easy and Sweet'n'Easy and is a co author of ‘Just One Pot.’ Her Publications are distributed in several countries.

She regularly demonstrates the art of Indian cooking at International Food Exhibitions representing food companies and has also launched her own label Asian savouries and snack food, as well as devising organic cooking sauces for other companies.

Hajra has won several awards and competitions and has herself been a representative on judging panels for cookery competitions as well as best restaurants.
